ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pursuant to G.S. 160A-388, a Board of Adjustment is hereby established. Said board shall consist of at least five members, each to be appointed for three (3) year terms. The Board of Adjustments is a "quasi-judicial" administrative body that operates on a level between the enforcement officers and the courts. The Board of Adjustments hears appeals by any person aggrieved by an officer, department, board, or bureau of the city. The Zoning Board of Adjustment does not have a regular monthly meeting. They only meet with business arises.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment for the Town of Wilkesboro fulfills the following responsibilities, duties, and powers:

To hear and decide appeals from and review any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by any administrative official charged with the enforcement of the Wilkesboro Zoning Ordinance;

To hear and decide requests for variances;

To review applications for conditional use permits; and

To make interpretations of the Official Zoning Map and to pass upon disputed questions of lot lines or district boundary lines.
