The Town of Wilkesboro has opened the Rolling Pines Disc Golf Course in May 2015 and it is located at the intersection of Old US Highway 421 and Peace Street in Wilkesboro which is past Wilkesboro Wastewater Plant if coming from Downtown. This course was designed and built through the loblolly pines (hence the name) for the professional disc golfer in mind by the Wilkes County Disc Golf Club and town employees.
The permanent course is located on over 70 acres of well-maintained land. Each player will have several challenges through the hilly, wooded areas of the course so bring plenty of water. This Par 56 course has 18 baskets with concrete tees, along with a practice basket and tee to warm up. There are two sets of tees: gold and white. Gold rates right at 1000 and white rates right at 900. Several benches and steps are placed throughout the course to help navigate, rest or enjoy the fresh air and mountain views in between baskets.
This course is free to the public and will be open from dawn till dusk daily. Restrooms are located within the course and they will be open as weather permits. This course has plenty of parking and is on the campground. This disc golf course will be closed when large groups gather for camping during MerleFest™(April) or Carolina in the Fall™(September), during Professional Disc Golf Tournaments, inclement weather, and at dusk daily. The amenities of this course are continuously being upgraded.
Each hole has been named after area landmarks, which are listed at each sign for a bit of history of our area, along with the hole information. Enjoy playing!
