Cub Creek is a 203-acre park that borders downtown, but its trail system extends much farther south. It is the town’s primary park, containing a variety of recreation features. While numerous facilities are currently available, the park continues to develop:
-
In 2023, the Inclusive Playground is open.
-
In 2022, new fishing pier was constructed and is in coordination with the Inclusive playground.
-
In 2022, tennis courts and 2 pickle ball courts were re-surfaced.
-
In 2021, six new pickle ball courts were constructed.
-
In 2019, Cub Creek and the Town of Wilkesboro were named an N.C. Mountain Heritage Trout City.
Inside the park boundaries is the award-winning restored Cub Creek Stream that is designated as trout water which is hatchery supported and named an N.C. Mountain Heritage Trout City. Cub Creek Park and stream bring is a popular spot for families to visit, picnic, walk, fish, or allow the kids to wade through the water and play. Along the creek, you can find some rather quiet spots to meditate and relax with a great book, just bring a blanket.
The park is home to some immaculate walking tracks and is popular with many users daily. Future plans include the Yadkin River Greenway and the Town of Wilkesboro plan to link this park’s walking trails to the growing greenway system, giving Cub Creek users access to more recreation beyond its boundaries.
This park is well-manicured and is open sunrise to sunset for everyone's enjoyment. The town has also partnered with numerous other agencies to bring many other amenities to fruition and Thank you to all of these organizations and agencies. You can find the links below all the details.
